How much does rocker panel PPF cost?

You get rocker panels in two packages: Track, at $1,900 and up before tax, and Full Vehicle, at $4,000 and up. The shop publishes no price for rockers alone; send the vehicle details and that job is quoted per vehicle.

Option Rocker panels covered? From (plus tax)
Partial Front No $850
Full Front No $1,550
Track Package Yes, along with the A-pillars and a partial roof $1,900
Full Vehicle Yes, as part of every painted surface $4,000
Rockers on their own Yes Quoted per vehicle

Size and shape move the figure. A long-wheelbase SUV or a crew-cab pickup has far more sill than a coupe, and a rocker with deep sculpting or vents takes more fitting. Every package price and what pushes it up is listed on PPF cost in Langley.

Where are the rocker panels, and why do they chip?

The rockers are the sills that run along the bottom of the body under the doors, between the front and rear wheel openings. They sit low and directly behind the front tires, so grit the tires pick up is thrown along them.

LLumar’s PPF FAQ puts rocker panels on its short list of high-punishment areas, next to the front bumper and hood, for owners who protect only part of the car. Langley winters add grit: the City of Langley spreads salt during snow events and uses a salt-and-sand blend where streets are steep. Whatever a front tire throws up, sand included, lands on the sill behind it.

Why does a chip on a rocker matter more than one on the hood?

Because a rocker lives in the spray of slush, salt and mud, which are the conditions carmakers name as the main drivers of corrosion. A chip there opens the paint in the dirtiest strip of the car.

Carmakers spell this out. Kia’s EV9 owner’s manual names stones and gravel that strip away paint, leaving metal exposed, as one of the usual starting points for rust. It adds that damp air speeds corrosion up, especially when the temperature hovers a little above 0 °C. That is a Fraser Valley winter in a sentence. Environment Canada’s normals for Abbotsford record about 90 days a year with an overnight low of 2 °C or less, and 6 a.m. relative humidity averaging 85% across the year.

The rocker is also structure, not trim. BC’s 2025 Vehicle Inspection Manual lists rocker panels among the stress and load-bearing parts it groups under body structural integrity, alongside the floor pan and side rails. Film adds no strength and doesn’t rust-proof anything; its job is to stop stones from breaking the paint on the sill’s outer face, so the factory finish stays whole where the road hits it.

How is film fitted to a rocker panel?

Rocker pieces come off the same software template as the rest of the package, matched to your model and year, then fitted by hand, with each edge wrapped wherever the sill’s shape lets the film turn. Should your sill need a relief cut, the installer points out its position before any film goes on.

Questions to ask about your sills

  • Where will the upper edge sit? It’s the film edge you’ll notice with the doors open, so look at it on the template with the installer.
  • Is the sill painted metal, or a plastic cover? LLumar makes its film for factory paint, so flag any add-on skirts or covers.
  • What happens at the wheel arches? The ends of each rocker piece meet the openings, right in line with the tires.

Sills on pickups and SUVs

Pickups and SUVs carry a lot of sill, and many add steps or running boards. Mention what’s fitted on yours; the rest of a truck’s chip zones are covered on PPF for pickup trucks.

Rockers only, Track Package or full body: which should you choose?

Choose by where your car actually gets marked. If the chips are along the sills and the front already has film, a rockers-only quote fills the gap; if the front is bare too, the Track Package covers both in one visit.

  • Rockers only: the nose already has film, or the sills are where the damage shows on your car.
  • Track Package, from $1,900: gravel, track days or highway driving where the front, pillars and sills all take hits. The Track Package page lists each piece.
  • Full Vehicle, from $4,000: you want the doors, rear quarters and rear bumper behind the rear wheels covered as well, which the full body package does.

How do you look after rocker film through a Langley winter?

Rinse the sills often in winter and keep pressure-washer nozzles away from the film’s long bottom edge. For the first seven days, leave new film unwashed. Once the week is up, wash by hand or drive through a touchless wash, and keep away from brushes.

The film covers the outside of the sill only. Mazda’s CX-5 owner’s manual for Canada points out that the lower edges of the doors and the rocker panels have drain holes, and “Water trapped there will cause rusting.” Flush the underbody and wheel housings after salt season and check those holes stay clear. Platinum heals light scuffs with heat, and LLumar’s 10-year limited warranty applies; the shop’s terms list yellowing, cracking, bubbling and peeling, and a piece torn by a big stone isn’t one of those four, so have the shop look at it.

How do you get a rocker panel PPF quote?

Send your year, make, model and trim through the paint protection film quote form, say whether you want rockers alone or the Track Package, and mention any existing film or side steps. Budget from $1,900 plus tax for the Track Package and one to two days in the shop; a rockers-only job is priced once the shop has your vehicle details.

Questions about rocker panel PPF

01Are rocker panels the same as side skirts?

Not always. The rocker is the body sill under the doors; on many cars a separate side skirt or plastic cover sits over or below it. Tell the shop what your car has, because the film is made for factory-painted surfaces.

02Can rocker film go on a car that already has full front PPF?

Yes. Rockers can be added to existing front coverage and are quoted per vehicle. Mention who installed the front film and roughly when, so the new pieces are planned around it.

03Does film on the rockers stop rust?

It keeps stones from breaking the paint on the part it covers, and broken paint is one of the causes of corrosion carmakers list. It does nothing for the inside of the sill or the underbody, which still need rinsing through the winter.

04Will people see film on the rockers?

Gloss film on gloss paint is meant to disappear, and the long bottom edge sits low where few people look. Matte film on a gloss car would show as a satin strip, so decide whether you want that look before choosing it.
