Volkswagen ID.4 PPF in Langley, BC

At a glance

PPF on a Volkswagen ID.4 starts at $850 for Partial Front at Brookswood Tint, in LLumar Platinum with a 10-year manufacturer-backed warranty. Above that sit Full Front from $1,550, the Track Package from $1,900 and Full Vehicle from $4,000. Every 2025 ID.4 in Canada has front and rear parking sensors, and recent model years had door-handle recalls worth closing before film goes on the doors.

How much is PPF for an ID.4?

It starts at $850 for Partial Front and runs to $4,000 for every painted panel. All four packages are LLumar Platinum, a self-healing gloss film, installed from software-cut templates with edges wrapped where the panel shape allows.

Package What’s covered From
Partial Front Full bumper, forward part of hood and fenders, headlights, mirrors $850
Full Front Entire hood, fenders and bumper, headlights, mirrors $1,550
Track Package Full Front plus A-pillars, part of the roof, rocker panels $1,900
Full Vehicle All painted surfaces and the headlights $4,000

Final prices depend on size, panel complexity and paint condition. VW Canada gives the ID.4 a length of 4,584 mm and a width of 2,108 mm, which is the scale of paint a Full Vehicle job has to cover. LLumar backs the film with a 10-year limited warranty; the shop’s published terms list yellowing, cracking, bubbling and peeling as covered.

What should ID.4 owners check before the doors get film?

Whether the door-handle recalls on your car are closed. Transport Canada lists three for the ID.4, all for water getting into the door handles, which could let a door open unexpectedly:

Recall Model years Vehicles in Canada
2023-184 2023 1,668
2023-263 2021, 2022 2,519
2024-502 2021 to 2024 20,790

The fix is a dealer inspection, handle replacement where needed and a software update. If a handle is going to be swapped, have that done first, so the film around it is laid once on the final part. Full Vehicle covers the doors, including the paint around each handle.

Which ID.4 colours and roofs change the job?

Mainly the two-tone roof. In VW Canada’s 2025 ID.4 Buyer’s Guide, the black roof is offered only on the Pro S AWD, with Oryx White Pearl, Silverbird Metallic, Pure Grey, Ice Grey Metallic or Aurora Red Chroma.

2025 ID.4 paint Extra cost Black roof possible
Pure White No No
Silverbird Metallic, Pure Grey No Pro S AWD
Deep Black Pearl No No
Oryx White Pearl, Ice Grey Metallic Yes Pro S AWD
Aurora Red Chroma Yes Pro S AWD

Film is clear, so colour doesn’t change the price on its own, but a black roof is a reason to choose the Track Package or Full Vehicle, which reach the roof. If you’d rather turn gloss paint satin, LLumar Platinum also comes in matte.

Sensors, cameras and lit details on the ID.4’s front end

Expect parking sensors front and rear on any 2025 ID.4: VW Canada lists Park Distance Control with front and rear sensors and Park Assist from the Base trim up. The optional Area View package adds a 360° camera system.

The S package changes the nose further, adding LED projector headlights, an illuminated light line across the front and an illuminated VW logo front and rear. Each of these is a spot the bumper pattern has to account for, so the shop needs the trim and packages before it cuts. Ask where the film edges will sit around each sensor before work begins. For how EV owners usually approach coverage, see PPF for electric vehicles.

Is Full Vehicle worth it on an ID.4?

It makes most sense if you want the doors, roof and rear covered too, not just the nose. VW puts the charging inlet on the passenger side at the rear, a panel you touch every time you plug in; on Full Vehicle it’s filmed along with everything else.

For a car that mostly commutes, Full Front covers the panels that face the road, which is where chips concentrate. The full-body PPF page sets out what the top package adds, panel by panel.

Send the model year, trim, packages and colour, mention whether the door-handle recall is done, and pick a package. The shop checks the paint and confirms the timing: about a day for Partial Front, one to two for Full Front and the Track Package, three to five for Full Vehicle. Use the ID.4 PPF quote form, and for the glass, ID.4 window tint starts at $260.

Questions about VW ID.4 PPF

01Is an electric car's paint softer, so it needs PPF more?

VW publishes nothing saying the ID.4's paint differs from its other models. The case for film is the same as on any SUV: the nose takes the stone hits.

02Can PPF go on the ID.4's black roof?

Yes. The Track Package covers part of the roof and Full Vehicle covers all of it. On a Pro S AWD with the black roof, say so when you ask, so the quote includes it.

03Does the shop need my VIN for an ID.4 quote?

The year, trim and colour are enough for a starting figure. Having the VIN handy helps if you also want to check recall status before the doors are filmed.

04How long does Full Vehicle take on an ID.4?

Three to five days, including paint decontamination and any correction the panels need first.
