What can a commercial wrap put on a work vehicle?
Anything from a name and phone number on the doors to printed artwork across every panel. The shop’s commercial work takes in logos, lettering and full-print graphics for work trucks, vans and fleets, built from your brand file.
| Coverage | What it usually means | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Door lettering | Business name, phone, website, licence or carrier details | Trades trucks, company cars, meeting legal marking rules |
| Partial graphics | Logo and design across part of the body, paint showing elsewhere | Vans and pickups where the body colour already fits the brand |
| Full printed wrap | Printed artwork over the whole body | Vehicles that work as rolling signs |
| Fleet set | The same layout repeated across each vehicle type | Fleets that need every unit to match |
3M lists commercial vehicle and fleet graphics, emblems and striping among the uses for its 2080 wrap film. For printed artwork, 3M doesn’t warrant printed 2080, so ask which print film and laminate the quote uses and what warranty comes with them. The white Bronco on this page shows partial graphics: a design on the rear door and quarter panel with the factory white left everywhere else.
What does BC law require on a commercial vehicle?
If your company is a carrier holding a National Safety Code safety certificate, its name has to be on both sides of each business vehicle covered by that certificate. MVAR s. 37.14 requires the name in letters or figures at least 5 cm high, displayed so it’s clearly visible to the public, whenever the vehicle is on a highway.
Not every work vehicle falls under this. The Division 37 definition of a commercial motor vehicle includes trucks with a licensed gross vehicle weight over 5,000 kg, buses, and certain business vehicles, and the director can grant exemptions from the marking rule. If you’re not sure whether your vehicles are covered, check with CVSE before the artwork is finalized, then build the carrier name into the door layout so it meets the 5 cm minimum on both sides. Planning it in at the design stage keeps the layout clean.
Can a wrapped vehicle be parked as an advertisement in Langley?
A working vehicle with your branding is fine to drive and park. A vehicle parked mainly to act as a sign is a different matter in the City of Langley, where the shop is.
The City’s Sign Bylaw No. 2125 lists vehicle signs among the signs prohibited in all zones, and defines a vehicle sign as one on a vehicle “where the principal purpose of the vehicle is to serve as a sign or a sign support structure”. A van you drive to jobs every day isn’t that; a wrapped vehicle parked by the road mainly to advertise could be. Other municipalities, the Township of Langley included, set their own sign rules, so check the bylaw where the vehicle will sit.
How are vans with corrugated roofs and rivets wrapped?
With heat and a different technique for each shape. Avery Dennison lists flat panels, flat panels with rivets, corrugations and deep recesses as suitable surfaces for its SW900 film, with trucks, vans, buses and trailers among its common applications.
3M’s vehicle colour change instructions name a van roof as its example of wide corrugations. The film is bridged over the channels, then heated and stretched down into them, and post-heating to 80 to 95 °C is required wherever film is laid into a recess. 3M also offers adhesion promoters for the deepest channels, with a trade-off a fleet manager should hear about: repositioning and removability are lost wherever a promoter is used. If your vans are leased and will be stripped at return, ask whether any will be needed on your models.
Can lettering go on a work vehicle’s windows?
Yes, on the windows BC allows. Because MVAR s. 7.05(8) is written about any material that reduces the light through a window, lettering and perforated window film on glass sit under the same zones as tint:
- Side windows behind the driver: allowed.
- Rear window or rear door glass: allowed only on a vehicle fitted with outside mirrors left and right.
- Windshield: only the top 75 mm.
- Front side windows: nothing. Graphics there aren’t road-legal in BC, and the 2025 Vehicle Inspection Manual rejects them under item 13d. For buses, item 29d fails film on the windows directly left and right of the driver.
Window graphics need their own care. 3M’s care bulletin says to avoid pressure washing perforated window graphic films that don’t have edge sealing tape, and Avery doesn’t recommend power washing window graphics at all. Tint rules for work vehicles are covered on tint rules for commercial vehicles in BC.
What happens to the graphics when a fleet vehicle is sold or returned?
They come off with heat, and planning for that at the start protects the paint. 3M’s removal bulletin says warranted removal for fleet graphics depends on three things: the paint being in good condition when the film went on, 3M’s removal methods being used, and 3M being told within five business days after the attempted removal so it can assist or verify.
The same bulletin warns that slightly oxidized paint grips film much harder than new paint and isn’t covered by that fleet removal warranty, so an older van with faded paint deserves a note on the quote. When vehicles leave the fleet, wrap removal takes the graphics off, and ICBC asks owners to tell their broker when a vehicle’s colour changes, per its Autoplan page.
How do you get fleet graphics quoted in Langley?
For a quote, use the commercial wrap quote form to send your logo and brand files, a list of vehicles by year, make and model, and photos of each type from both sides; questions can go by text to 604 534 6433. Graphics are quoted per design, and fleet tint is priced by vehicle type and volume.
The shop books fleets in blocks so vehicles come off the road in a planned order, and invoices the work for the fleet. If your vans or trucks also need window film, fleet window tinting can be done in the same visit, along with a chrome delete for a uniform look. Fleet vehicles come to the Langley Bypass bay (20560, Unit 312), which runs 9:00 to 17:00 and closes only on Sundays.
