What does a GR86 wrap cost, and how long is the car in the shop?
There’s no list price. Each GR86 is quoted from the car itself and from how much of it changes colour, and the time follows the same split: a full colour change runs three to five days, while a single panel or accent takes the same day to two.
| GR86 job | What changes | Time in the shop |
|---|---|---|
| Full colour change | All painted exterior panels; jambs if you want them | 3 to 5 days |
| Roof | The roof panel, often in satin black | Same day to 2 days |
| Hood | The hood alone, as a contrast panel | Same day to 2 days |
| Spoiler or mirror housings | One accent piece or a matched pair | Same day to 2 days |
Toyota Canada’s 2027 GR86 announcement says the hood, front fenders and roof panel are aluminum, part of how Toyota keeps the car light. That makes no difference to the vinyl, which sits on the factory paint over aluminum just as it does on the rest of the body. Of all single panels, owners ask the shop most often for a satin black roof on gloss paint, and Toyota’s spec sheet lists no sunroof on any GR86, so there’s no glass to trim around.
Which GR86 colours come from Toyota, and which only from vinyl?
Toyota sells six colours for 2027, split by grade, and none is a matte or satin paint. Anything outside that list, or a flat finish of any shade, is a wrap.
| 2027 GR86 grade | Colours in Toyota’s announcement |
|---|---|
| GR86, manual | Raven, Track bRed, Halo |
| Premium MT and Premium AT | Those three plus Pavement, Thunder and TRUENO Blue |
Thunder is the new one for 2027, a solid grey that Toyota says looks different depending on the light. A base-grade owner can’t order Pavement, Thunder or TRUENO Blue from the factory, but can get close in vinyl. Satin, matte and colour-shift films go further than any Toyota paint, and the colour change page shows how a full change is planned. If stone chips worry you as much as the colour does, compare matte PPF against a matte wrap first.
What on a GR86 body takes the most wrapping time?
The aero details and openings. Toyota’s GR86 features page names four aero details: front intakes set vertically, intakes on the flanks, a sill spoiler and fins on the rear arches. Every one of those is an edge or a recess that the film has to be stretched into or trimmed around by hand, and each adds time to the quote.
The Premium’s duck-bill spoiler can match the new colour or stay as a contrast piece. The 2027 Premium also makes Rear Sonar Warning standard, and 3M’s 2080 product bulletin tells installers never to apply its film over sensors or radar. Those sensor faces are left uncovered, so tell the shop your year and grade.
How long does vinyl last on a GR86’s hood and roof?
Not as long as on the doors. The shop’s published term is five years from the manufacturer, and 3M splits its own terms by surface. Its warranty card lists 2080 at 7 years for vertical faces and 2 for horizontal ones in its Zone 2, and 3M’s zone matrix puts Canada in that zone.
On a low coupe the hood, roof and trunk lid face the sky for most of the day, so they are the panels that age first. Avery Dennison sets its own terms by zone; ask which applies to the film you choose. Garaging the car and washing it by hand both help, and wrap lifespan in BC goes further. If the colour ever has to go, 3M’s bulletin describes 2080 as removable from most surfaces with heat, chemicals or both, provided it’s still in warranty.
How do you book a GR86 wrap in Langley?
Send the model year, grade, current colour and the colour or finish you want, and say whether it’s the whole car or one panel. Photos of the bumper and any repainted panel help, because resprayed paint can come away with the vinyl later, and the shop checks the paint before anything goes on.
The reply gives a price for your car and a booking slot sized to the job. Send it through the GR86 wrap quote form; a text to the shop works too (604 534 6433). If the windows are on your list too, ask for GR86 window tint in the same quote.
