What will GR86 window tint cost?
Behind the doors, a GR86 falls under the sports coupe package, which starts at $220 in LLumar ATC dyed film. Ceramic IRX or AIR on those three windows is a per-package upgrade.
| GR86 job | Glass covered | From |
|---|---|---|
| Sports coupe rear package, LLumar ATC | Two rear quarters plus back glass | $220 |
| The same three in IRX or AIR | As above, in ceramic film | Quoted per package |
| Front doors | Driver’s and passenger’s door glass | $140, not road-legal in BC |
| Full windshield, from the inside | 1 | $200, though only its top 75 mm is road-legal |
That buys LLumar film from a plotter pattern made for the GR86’s year, fitted by hand, with the shop’s lifetime warranty on both film and labour. Book another service with it and the bundle is normally cheaper than the two list prices added up; ask for that figure.
What glass does a GR86 have behind the driver?
Three panes. Toyota Canada’s own side views of the GR86 show a small rear quarter window behind each door, and the back glass spans the car under a low, sloping roof. Toyota’s 2027 GR86 announcement calls it “an authentic 2+2 rear wheel drive sports car”, and the quarters are the only side glass behind the front seats.
Toyota Canada’s GR86 specifications put the roof at 1,310 mm and list a rear window defogger on every grade. A low roof means a long, raked back window, and that pane takes the most time, so the film is pre-shaped on the outside face with heat before it goes in over the defogger lines. Premium cars also carry Toyota’s duck-bill spoiler right behind that glass, one more edge to work around while the film is shaped. Tinting over defroster lines explains why that grid isn’t a problem.
Does the GR86’s safety camera matter for windshield tint?
It’s a reason to read the manual first. Toyota’s 2027 announcement says every GR86 comes with an Active Safety Suite, that the stereo camera’s recognition range was nearly doubled, and that a monocular camera was added to help detect nearby objects at intersections.
Film on a BC windshield must stay in the top 75 mm; a full windshield film isn’t legal on the road. Before asking for even that strip, check what the owner’s manual says about the area in front of the cameras; tinting a windshield that carries an ADAS camera covers the carmakers’ warnings.
Which film suits a GR86’s rear glass?
Pick the darkness first, then decide how much heat you want gone. On LLumar’s spec sheet, ATC 15 measures 18% visible light and rejects 40% of total solar energy, while IRX 15 measures 20% and rejects 59%. That gap is what the ceramic upgrade buys on a car with a big back window over a small cabin.
Toyota doesn’t publish light-transmission figures for the GR86’s glass, and film compounds with any tint already in the glass. If you want the car to look nearly untouched but run cooler, AIR does that; IRX gives the most heat rejection at each darker shade. The coupe tint page compares the shades on two-door cars.
What does BC law allow on a two-door GR86?
The two rear quarters can take any shade, and so can the back glass, because the GR86 has an outside mirror on both doors. The rule is MVAR s. 7.05(8).
The door windows are the catch. On a two-door they are the long panes beside the driver and passenger, and no film of any kind is allowed on them in BC, not even clear. The usual ticket is $109, and a Notice & Order demanding removal and an inspection can follow. Door film goes on only if you ask, once that’s been explained; the front-window rule has the full detail.
How do you book GR86 tint in Langley?
Tell the shop the model year, the grade (base, Premium MT or Premium AT) and the film and shade you are considering. You get the $220 package price and the ceramic figure side by side.
The car is normally ready the same day. Any filmed window that opens stays up for three to five days; light haze in week one is normal and fades. Prices come back from the GR86 tint quote form or from a text to 604 534 6433 with your details.
