What does window tint cost on a BMW iX?
From $260 in LLumar ATC dyed film for the glass behind the front doors. The iX is priced on the SUV rear package, which takes in the rear door windows, the side glass behind them and the tailgate window. IRX nano-ceramic or near-clear AIR on the same glass is quoted per vehicle.
| iX glass | What’s covered | From |
|---|---|---|
| SUV rear package | Rear doors, side glass behind them, tailgate window | $260 |
| Ceramic upgrade | IRX or AIR on that glass | Quoted per vehicle |
| Panoramic roof | The one-piece glass roof | Quoted per vehicle |
| iX front doors | Driver and passenger windows, on request | $140; film there isn’t legal in BC |
| Complete windshield | One sheet on the inside face | $200; BC permits only the top 75 mm |
Every piece is plotter-cut from the iX’s own pattern, so no blade goes near the glass or the seals, then heat-shrunk and set by hand. Film and fitting are both warrantied for life: the film under LLumar’s limited warranty, the installation by the shop. Combining packages, such as the rear glass and the roof, usually comes in under the list prices added up, and the shop quotes that per vehicle.
What’s different about the iX’s glass roof?
Almost everything. BMW’s US launch release for the 2022 iX describes a single-piece panoramic glass roof that spans the whole interior with no cross struts, which BMW calls the largest glass roof it had ever fitted. There’s no roller blind. Instead, a middle layer of PDLC film clouds the glass to shade the cabin at the press of a button, and the shading switches on by itself once the car is parked.
BMW says the roof is laminated, two glass panes with three layers of film between them, and that the upper pane has a triple silver coating to help with cabin temperature. For the 2026 model year, BMW USA’s new iX release makes this Panoramic Eclipsing Roof optional on the xDrive45 and standard on the xDrive60 and M70. With that much built into the glass already, the roof isn’t part of the rear package; the shop looks at it and quotes it separately.
Does the iX come with privacy glass?
Some do. BMW’s US release for the 2023 iX M60 lists Privacy Glass in the M60’s standard equipment. BMW doesn’t publish a light figure for it, and Canadian equipment can differ, so check your own car before choosing a shade.
That matters because film stacks with the glass. Dark film on dark glass ends up much darker than either alone; 20% film on glass passing about 20% of light leaves roughly 4%. On factory privacy glass, AIR 80 keeps the look you have and adds heat rejection, while IRX or ATC takes it darker. Tint against factory privacy glass goes through the trade-off.
How do frameless doors and windshield cameras fit BC’s rules?
They don’t change them. BMW calls the iX the first large BMW SAV with frameless door windows, but those front door windows are still front side windows, and film of any kind on them isn’t road-legal.
MVAR s. 7.05(8) allows film behind the driver at any shade, on the tailgate window when there are outside mirrors on both sides, and only in the top 75 mm of the windshield. BMW also places up to two cameras near the rear-view mirror on the iX’s windscreen; tinting a windshield with an ADAS camera covers that area. The shop will do the front doors ($140) or a full windshield ($200) if you ask, but the iX won’t be road-legal: a ticket typically runs $109 and police can order the film removed. That’s explained before you decide; see tinting front windows in BC.
Which LLumar film suits an iX?
For heat, IRX nano-ceramic rejects 50 to 62% of total solar energy (TSER) on LLumar’s performance data sheet. ATC, the dyed film in the starting price, rejects 28 to 44%. AIR 80 lets through 77% of visible light and rejects 60% of infrared energy (IRER), so it suits glass you want to keep looking factory.
Every option blocks over 99% of UV, which counts for rear passengers sitting beside a lot of glass on a long drive.
How do you book iX tint in Langley?
Send the model year, the version, whether it has privacy glass and whether you want the roof looked at. The reply covers the rear package, the ceramic difference and a roof price if needed.
A full tint on an SUV typically takes two to four hours. Keep the windows up for three to five days afterwards, and don’t be alarmed by light haze that clears during the first week. iX paint protection film can be booked into the same visit, and the SUV window tint page explains the package in general. Use the iX tint quote form or call 604 534 6433.
