Fixed back glass or power slider: which does your Ranger have?
It follows the trim. Ford Canada’s 2026 Ranger pages list two kinds of back glass, both privacy-tinted from the factory:
| 2026 Ranger trim | Back glass, as Ford Canada lists it |
|---|---|
| XL | Fixed glass, privacy glass |
| XLT | Fixed privacy glass; power-sliding rear window with privacy glass and defrost optional |
| Lariat | Power-sliding rear window with privacy glass and defrost |
| Raptor | Power-sliding rear window with privacy glass and defrost |
Both kinds fall inside the same package. A fixed pane is filmed in one piece. On a slider, the panel that moves gets its own piece, separate from the glass around it, so it still opens once the film has cured. Ford also shows a power moonroof for the XLT and Lariat as late availability, spring 2026, and on the XLT it comes paired with the power slider.
Because the back glass already carries privacy tint, the film you choose stacks on top of it. Look at your truck in daylight before settling on a shade.
What does tint cost on a Ford Ranger?
From $240 for both rear door windows and the back glass in LLumar ATC, whether the back glass is fixed or a slider. Ceramic, in IRX or AIR, costs more and is priced per package.
| Ranger job | Glass | From |
|---|---|---|
| Pickup rear package | Rear door windows plus back glass or slider | $240 |
| IRX or AIR ceramic | The same glass | Quoted per package |
| Power moonroof, where fitted | Roof glass | Quoted per vehicle |
| Front door windows | Driver’s and front passenger’s | $160, not road-legal in BC |
| Full windshield, from the inside | 1 | $200, only the top 75 mm is legal |
The film is plotter-cut to the Ranger’s pattern, heat-formed and squeegeed by hand, with a lifetime warranty covering the film and the labour. The other pickup options are on the truck window tint page, and the price list covers every vehicle class.
Should a recalled Ranger windshield be sorted before a sun strip?
Yes. NHTSA recall 25V-683 covers 2025 Bronco and Ranger trucks whose windshields may not have been properly bonded at the factory, and the remedy is a new windshield, fitted by the dealer at no charge. The filing counts only nine trucks across both models, so a VIN check will clear most owners quickly.
It isn’t the first time. Recall 22V-451 dealt with 2022 Bronco and Ranger windshields the same way, with dealers removing and reinstalling the glass. A sun strip put on glass that’s about to be replaced goes in the bin with it, so settle any open recall first. In BC that strip may reach no lower than 75 mm from the top of the windshield.
How does BC’s tint rule apply to a Ranger?
Everything behind the front seats can go as dark as you like, and the front doors can’t take film at all. MVAR s. 7.05(8) treats a pickup’s back glass, slider included, as the rear window, which may be tinted when the truck has outside mirrors on both sides. Every 2026 Ranger trim lists mirrors with power-adjustable glass on each door, so that condition is met; side mirrors and rear tint explains the rule.
The two front door windows are the exception at any shade, clear film included. If you want them filmed anyway, the shop fits them at the $160 pickup rate once you’ve heard the downside: a ticket, a possible order to remove the film and have the truck inspected, and an inspection rejection under item 13d. The front-window answer walks through each consequence.
How do you book Ranger tint in Langley?
Send the year, trim, whether the back glass is fixed or a slider, and whether a moonroof is in the job. Say which film you prefer, or ask the shop to suggest one for your glass.
Most Rangers are ready the same day. Keep the door glass and the slider closed for three to five days afterwards, and expect any faint haze to clear within the week. Other mid-size trucks with their own pages include the Toyota Tacoma and Chevrolet Colorado. The Ranger quote form takes the details online, and texting 604 534 6433 works as well.
