How much does CX-50 window tint cost?
The rear set starts at $260 in LLumar ATC dyed film. That’s the shop’s SUV package; on a CX-50 it covers five panes: two rear doors, two quarter windows and the liftgate.
| Glass on a CX-50 | Price | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Rear doors, quarter glass, liftgate | From $260 | LLumar ATC, shades from 5% to 50% |
| The same openings in ceramic | Quoted per package | IRX for darker shades, AIR for near-clear |
| Panoramic moonroof | Quoted per vehicle | Standard on every 2025 Canadian trim |
| Driver’s and passenger’s door glass | $140 | Fitted on request; illegal on BC roads |
| Windshield, full | $200 | Road-legal only as a top strip, 75 mm deep |
Each window is cut on the shop’s plotter from a CX-50 pattern rather than trimmed on the car, then heat-shrunk and set by hand. The film is under LLumar’s lifetime limited warranty, and the shop’s own lifetime cover applies to the labour. Adding the roof or ceramic film usually brings the combined figure below the separate prices; window tint pricing lays out every package.
How dark is the CX-50’s rear glass from the factory?
Darker than the front door glass, on every 2025 Canadian CX-50. Mazda Canada’s 2025 CX-50 specifications put privacy glass on the rear door glass, the quarter glass and the rear gate glass of the base GS-L, and the GT, GT Turbo and Meridian Edition build on that trim. The rest of the car gets what Mazda calls green tint glass with a UV shield.
Mazda gives no light-transmission number for that glass, so no chart can promise the finished shade. The two layers compound: a film passing 35% of the light, over glass that passes, say, 25%, leaves roughly 9%. Judge the back of your CX-50 in daylight first. Happy with the factory shade as it is? Then near-clear LLumar AIR brings heat and UV control without much visible change. How dark factory privacy glass is explains what that glass does and doesn’t do.
Is the CX-50’s panoramic moonroof worth filming?
For many owners, yes, because every 2025 Canadian CX-50 has one. The spec sheet lists a power, sliding, panoramic moonroof with one-touch open and close on the GS-L, and the other trims carry it over.
Mazda’s panorama sunroof cautions note that the sunshade doesn’t tilt and mustn’t be forced shut while the roof is opening. A shade only blocks sun while it’s drawn. Film, by contrast, sits on the glass and goes on cutting heat with the shade pulled back. Near-clear AIR keeps the sky in view, and every film on LLumar’s spec sheet is rated above 99% for UV. Roof film is priced on its own; sunroof and panoramic roof tint covers how it’s fitted.
What does Mazda say about film near the CX-50’s camera?
Keep it off. The Forward Sensing Camera section of the 2025 CX-50 manual tells owners to keep accessories, stickers and film off the windshield around the camera, because anything in front of the lens disrupts it “even if it is transparent”.
Lane-keep Assist, High Beam Control and Smart Brake Support are among the systems that page says rely on it. So a CX-50’s windshield has two limits at once: BC confines film to the uppermost 75 mm, and Mazda wants the glass by the camera left bare, clear film included. Talk to the shop before planning any windshield strip, and read windshield tint with a driver-assist camera for how other makers word the same warning.
Which CX-50 windows can you legally tint in BC?
Everything behind the front seats. Under MVAR s. 7.05(8), rear side glass can carry film of any shade, and so can the rear window once mirrors are fitted outside on both sides, as they are on every CX-50. The front doors are level with the driver, which puts any film on them outside the rule, clear film too.
Front-door film is still available on request, once you’ve heard the downside: Mission RCMP puts the usual ticket at $109, officers can demand the film come off and the SUV be inspected, and a BC inspection rejects it outright. Can you tint front windows in BC sets out the rule in full.
How do you book CX-50 tint in Langley?
Begin with the model year and trim. For 2025 that’s the GS-L, GT, GT Turbo or Meridian Edition, and Mazda Canada also lists a CX-50 Hybrid. Name the film you’re considering and say whether the panoramic roof is in.
Most CX-50s are finished within the day, often in two to four hours. Keep the rear windows closed while the film cures, three to five days; a slight haze that week dries out by itself. Mazda’s manual says the defroster filaments are installed inside the rear window, so liftgate film that ever needs replacing is steamed off, never scraped. Get a figure through the CX-50 tint quote form; protecting the paint is covered on Mazda CX-50 PPF.
