What does window tint cost on a G-Class?
A G-Class is priced as a full-size SUV, so its rear glass starts at $260 in LLumar ATC, the shop’s colour-stable dyed film. The same panes in IRX nano-ceramic or near-clear AIR are an upgrade quoted per package.
| G-Class glass | What’s covered | From |
|---|---|---|
| Rear glass | The rear side windows and the window in the rear door | $260 |
| Ceramic upgrade | The same rear glass in IRX or AIR | Quoted per package |
| Sunroof | The glass roof panel | Quoted per vehicle |
| Front doors | Driver’s and front passenger’s windows | $140, not road-legal in BC |
| Full windshield | Applied from the inside | $200, only the top 75 mm is road-legal |
The price covers genuine LLumar film cut on a computerized plotter from the pattern for your model year, so no blade goes near the glass, the seals or the trim. Each piece is heat-shrunk and laid by hand, and both the film and the shop’s labour carry a lifetime warranty. Doing every window in one visit usually totals less than the list prices added up, so ask for that figure; the window tint price list sets out all the packages.
Which G-Class models already have tinted rear glass?
The electric G 580 does. Mercedes-Benz says “heat insulating dark tinted glass is utilized for the rear side windows and rear window” on the G 580 with EQ Technology. The 2025 quick reference guides for the G 550 and AMG G 63 list “Heat and Noise Insulating Glass” but don’t say which panes carry it or how dark they are.
Mercedes publishes no light-transmission figure for any of it, so the starting point is your own G rather than a shade chart. Film and factory tint multiply: a film that passes 20% laid over glass that passes 20% leaves roughly 4%. On already-dark G 580 glass, near-clear LLumar AIR adds heat rejection without much extra darkness. On lighter glass, IRX rejects 50 to 62% of total solar energy on LLumar’s performance data sheet, the highest range of the films the shop lists. More on reading factory glass is in how dark factory privacy glass is.
How is the window in the G-Class rear door tinted?
From the inside, like any back glass, except that on a G it sits in a door instead of a lift-up tailgate. Mercedes counts the “spare wheel on the rear door” among the G 550’s signature details, and the G 580 carries a rectangular Design Box on that door as standard. Both hang on the outside, and the film is applied to the inside face of the glass.
BC treats that pane as the rear window. Film is allowed there only if the vehicle has outside mirrors on both sides, and the G’s heated power mirrors on each front door meet that condition. The rear window counts toward the $260 package; the roof does not. The 2025 G 550 and AMG G 63 list a power tilt and sliding sunroof, and that glass is quoted separately, as the sunroof and panoramic roof tint page explains.
What does BC’s tint rule mean for a G-Class?
Every pane behind the driver can take film at any darkness, and none of the glass beside the driver can. On a G that leaves the two front door windows unfilmed by law, however dark the rear glass goes.
MVAR s. 7.05(8) allows film on the windshield only in a strip no deeper than 75 mm from the top. The shop will fit the front doors for $140 or a full windshield for $200 if you ask, and neither is road-legal: a tint ticket typically costs $109, and police can order the film removed and the vehicle inspected. You hear that before anything is booked. The fines and the inspection steps are on tinting front windows in BC.
How do you book G-Class tint in Langley?
Send the year, the model (G 550, AMG G 63 or G 580) and the film you have in mind, and say whether the sunroof is part of the job. If you know your rear glass is the dark factory type, say so too.
The shop’s library includes the Mercedes-AMG G63 6x6, a six-wheeled pickup version of the G, which it tinted; the G63 6x6 project page shows it. A full SUV typically takes two to four hours and most go home the same day. Keep the side windows closed for three to five days while the film cures, and expect a faint haze that clears within the week. Request a price through the G-Class tint quote form or call 604 534 6433, and if the paint needs protecting too, G-Class PPF can go in the same visit.
