What does it cost to tint a Tesla Model S?
A Model S takes the sedan rear package: $240 and up in LLumar ATC for every pane behind the front doors. Moving those panes up to IRX nano-ceramic or AIR clear ceramic adds a per-package quote, and the roof is priced as its own job.
| Glass on a Model S | What’s included | From |
|---|---|---|
| Sedan rear package, LLumar ATC | Both rear door windows, both rear quarter windows, the liftgate glass | $240 |
| Ceramic upgrade, IRX or AIR | Those five panes again | Per-package quote |
| Fixed glass roof | The roof panel over the cabin | Quoted per car |
| Front doors | Both front side windows | $140 if requested; illegal to drive with in BC |
| Full windshield | Film on the inside face | $200 if requested; BC permits only the top 75 mm |
That figure buys real LLumar film, plotter-cut to the Model S pattern for your year, backed by a lifetime warranty on the film and on the workmanship. Budget two to four hours for the whole car. The other body classes are listed on the window tint price page.
Which Model S windows sit behind the driver?
Five panes, plus the roof. Tesla’s 2021+ service manual handles each rear pane differently, and two carry more than glass.
Rear quarter windows
Each rear quarter window is bonded to the body with urethane and held by two bolts, and Tesla removes the body side brightwork before the glass can come out. Film is laid on the cabin side, so neither the bond nor the brightwork outside is disturbed.
Liftgate glass
The liftgate glass is also bonded with urethane, and it’s wired. Tesla’s procedure unplugs the high-mounted brake lamp, which is fixed to the glass with 3M tape, then the antenna amplifier and RF filter connectors. The film has to be cut around that lamp’s footprint, and signal questions are covered under tint and cell or GPS signal.
Glass roof
The 2021 and later car has a fixed glass roof, and Tesla’s repair guide describes it with an inner and an outer layer, as it does the windshield. Roof film is priced on its own, as panoramic roof tint explains.
Before choosing a shade, have the rear glass looked at. Film darkness multiplies with the glass under it, and a 20% film on 20% glass ends up near 4%. No Tesla figure for the Model S rear glass turned up in its manuals.
Where does film stop on a Model S windshield?
In BC, 75 mm below the top edge, and nowhere near the cameras. Tesla’s repair guidelines for the Model S draw an AS1 line 155 mm below the upper edge of the painted border, and they bar chip repairs anywhere in the camera’s field of view plus a 25 mm margin. BC’s band is under half the depth of that AS1 line.
The forward cameras sit behind a glare shield bolted to the windshield, near the rear-view mirror. Tesla keeps a precision cleaning procedure just for haze and residue on the inside of the glass in that spot. Windshield tint near a driver-assist camera explains how film is kept out of the way.
What can be tinted on a Model S in BC?
Every pane behind the driver, at any shade. MVAR s. 7.05(8) puts no darkness limit on rear side glass, and it clears the liftgate glass as well, since a Model S carries an outside mirror left and right.
Two pieces of front glass stay bare. One is the door glass, which Tesla’s adjustment procedure shows dropping as the latch releases so it clears the bright trim; the other is the fixed pane at the front of each door that carries the mirror. Both are forward of the driver’s seat back, and the 2025 Vehicle Inspection Manual lists film in that zone as a rejection under item 13d.
Front glass is filmed only if you ask, and the risk is spelled out first. A tint ticket usually costs $109, the Mission RCMP says, and officers can also order the film stripped and the car inspected. The whole rule, inspection order included, is set out under tinting front windows in BC, with the fines.
How do you book Model S tint in Langley?
Start with the year and trim; Tesla documents 2021 and later cars separately, and the plotter file follows the build. Mention which film appeals and whether you’d like the roof priced as well.
Most Model S jobs are finished the same day. For three to five days after, leave the side windows up; light haze or little water pockets during that first week are curing film and disappear. Send the details through the Model S tint quote form, or text or call 604 534 6433.
