Brookswood Tint offers the Polestar 2 three graphene-ceramic packages, from one-layer Essential to four-layer Signature, each quoted after the paint is checked. What does Polestar’s manual say about coating a Polestar 2?

It asks owners to stay with Polestar’s own products. The polishing and waxing page says “Only use paintwork treatments recommended by Polestar”, warns that “preservation, sealing, protection, luster sealing or similar, could damage the paintwork”, and says paint damage from such treatments isn’t covered by Polestar’s warranty.

Weigh that before booking. Polestar Canada’s warranty terms cover faults in the paint surface caused by defects in materials or paint application for 4 years or 80,000 km. Ask Polestar Customer Support how it views a professionally applied coating on your car. The shop will explain exactly what its process involves, but it can’t answer for Polestar’s warranty.

Which coating package fits a Polestar 2?

Essential is one layer; Performance puts down two after a two-stage correction; Signature lays four over a full correction. Pricing follows a paint inspection, and a coating keeps the Polestar at the shop for anywhere from one day to three.

Package Layers Paint work before coating
Essential 1 No correction stage in the package
Performance 2 Two-stage correction
Signature 4 Full correction

Age matters on this car. Polestar writes that the vehicle “does not need to be polished until it is at least a year old”, though it can be waxed in the first year. On a Polestar 2 that young, Essential is the package without a correction step. On an older car, paint thickness is measured first and the correction is planned from there; whether new cars need paint correction covers the reasoning, and the paint correction page lists the stages.

Which Polestar 2 parts must stay away from polish?

Three, by Polestar’s own care pages. Each needs masking or a different product while the rest of the car is corrected and coated.

Matte emblems

“Never polish or wax the vehicle’s matte emblem. This could destroy the matte effect and make the surface permanently glossy.” Polestar’s matte emblem page also rules out “gloss protection” on them.

Glossy trim mouldings

The trim cleaning page says polishing glossy trim “can wear away or damage the glossy surface layer” and that abrasive polish must not be used on it.

The panoramic roof

On Plus pack cars, the hand washing page says never to use abrasive polish on the roof glass or wax on its rubber seals. Glass coating has its own page.

How do Polestar 2 colours and wheels take a coating?

Any of the factory colours can be coated, but the dark ones repay correction most. Polestar Canada’s colour picker offers Snow, Vapour, Midnight, Storm and Space; its swatches show Space as black and Midnight as dark blue. Swirl marks show up most on dark paint, which is why coating a black car depends so much on the correction underneath.

The standard wheels are 19-inch Aero cast alloys, diamond cut with a gloss black surface, per Polestar’s spec sheet. The rim cleaning page warns that strong rim cleaners can damage and stain that surface. A coating doesn’t change that advice, so mild car shampoo stays the cleaner of choice, and wheel coating is priced as an add-on.

What’s the booking process for a Polestar 2 coating?

Send the model year, kilometres, colour and preferred package; the quote firms up once the paint has been checked. The car needs one to three days with the shop, and it shouldn’t get wet in the first 24 hours after you collect it.

Washing afterwards fits what Polestar already advises: its automatic car wash page recommends hand washing and says to avoid automatic washes in the first few months because new paint “takes some time to fully harden”. Ask for a price on the coating quote form. Chip protection is a different job, covered on Polestar 2 PPF.

Questions about polestar 2 ceramic coating

01Will a ceramic coating affect my Polestar 2's warranty?

The manual says paint damage caused by sealing or protection treatments Polestar doesn't recommend isn't covered by its warranty. Ask Polestar Customer Support about your own car before you book.

02Can the matte Polestar emblems be coated?

Polestar says never to polish or wax a matte emblem, and not to use gloss protection on it, because it can turn permanently shiny. Treat the emblems as parts to keep clear of polish and gloss products.

03My Polestar 2 is only a few months old. Does it need correction?

Polestar's manual says it doesn't need polishing until it's at least a year old. A look under the shop's lights shows whether yours has wash marks worth removing anyway.

04Is a coated Polestar 2 fine in an automatic car wash?

Polestar itself suggests hand washing, or topping up automatic washes with a hand wash, and skipping automatic washes for the first few months while new paint hardens. Hand or touchless washing is also the gentle choice for coated paint.
