How much is window tint on a Polestar 2?
On a Polestar 2, $240 buys the rear package in LLumar ATC dyed film: both rear door windows, any fixed rear side glass and the tailgate window. Swapping to IRX or AIR ceramic is priced for the package as a whole.

The shop’s plotter cuts each piece for the exact year and model, so there’s no knife work on the glass or the seals, and heat shrinks every piece to its curve before it’s laid by hand. The film and the labour are both under lifetime warranty. Polestar Canada’s Polestar 2 tech specs count five doors “including a roof-hinged tailgate”, which is where the back glass lives on this fastback, so the package is checked against your car at the quote.
Why does the film type matter on a Polestar 2’s rear window?
Because that glass carries the radio antenna. The windows and glass section of Polestar’s manual says: “Do not use solar film with a metalized surface on the rear window. This can interfere with reception because the vehicle’s radio antenna is located inside the window.”
There’s no metallized film on the shop’s menu. ATC is a colour-stable dyed product, while IRX and AIR are ceramic, which leaves nothing with the metal surface Polestar describes. Whether tint blocks phone or GPS signal covers the wider question for other cars.
The same pane is heated. The manual’s windshield and rear window chapter explains switching the heated rear window on and off, and the film sits on the inside face across those heating lines. Tinting over rear defroster lines goes through what that means for the element.
What glass does the Polestar 2 have overhead and up front?
Laminated glass, in both the windshield and the optional panoramic roof. Polestar says those two are always laminated, and any other laminated pane on the car carries a symbol in the glass.
The roof comes with the Plus pack in Canada: a full-length fixed glass panel with a projected Polestar symbol. In the panoramic roof article, Polestar calls it “a full panoramic window in tinted glass to reduce incoming light, heat and ultraviolet rays”. The windshield has more jobs. It holds the rain sensor, and Polestar’s camera maintenance note says the marked camera area must be “kept free of decals, objects, dirt, etc.” Any film near it has to stay out of that marked area, and the general case is on tinting a windshield with an ADAS camera.
Which Polestar 2 windows can be tinted in BC?
Any shade on the glass behind the driver; nothing on the front doors. Under MVAR s. 7.05(8), the rear door glass can take film, and so can the rear window, since every Polestar 2 has an outside mirror on each side. On this car the rear window is the tailgate glass.
Front door film breaks the rule at any shade, clear included, and windshield film is limited to the 75 mm band along the top edge. The shop fits front or full windshield film on request after laying out what can follow: a ticket, typically $109, plus the chance of an order to take it off and put the car through an inspection it would fail. How do you book Polestar 2 tint in Langley?
Tell the shop the model year and whether there’s a Plus pack, because that decides the roof. Expect the car back the same day, since the whole job usually runs two to four hours. For three to five days afterwards, don’t lower the side windows while the film cures. In the first week you may see a slight haze or little water pockets under the film; both are normal and go away as it dries.
