How is a Porsche 911 ceramic coating priced?
Per car, because the price mostly follows the paint correction underneath. The coating comes in three packages, and each one covers a different set of surfaces.
| Package | What’s applied | Surfaces covered |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | A single layer | Paint only |
| Performance | 2 layers, after a two-stage correction | Paint, glass, the faces of the wheels |
| Signature | 4 layers, after full correction | Paint, film, wheels, glass and trim |
Paint thickness is measured before any polishing, and the reading decides how much correction a 911 can take. A two-stage correction typically takes one to two days and a multi-stage restoration three or more, quoted after inspection; the stages are explained on paint correction. Wheel and caliper coating, glass coating and interior leather and fabric protection are sold as add-ons.
Which paint does your 911 have?
Find the colour name before you ask for a quote. In its 2024 press kit for the new 911, Porsche reorganised the 911’s paint into four “colour worlds”:
| Colour world | Examples Porsche names |
|---|---|
| Legends | Crayon, Shade Green Metallic, Slate Grey Neo |
| Dreams | Gentian Blue Metallic, Carmine Red, Guards Red, Lugano Blue, Cartagena Yellow Metallic |
| Shades | Jet Black Metallic, Vanadium Grey Metallic, GT Silver Metallic, Ice Grey Metallic |
| Contrasts | Black, White |
Beyond those, Porsche offers more colours through its Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample+ programmes and the Exclusive Manufaktur special-request programme, and says about 40% of 911s are additionally refined by hand there. So two 911s that look alike can carry very different paint histories, and a car with a few years on it may have had panels repainted. That’s the reason for measuring first.
On a dark colour such as Jet Black Metallic, swirl marks show readily, which is where the correction stages earn their time; more on that is in whether ceramic coating suits a black car.
Which 911 trim needs care apart from the paint?
The black and satin parts. Porsche finishes several 911 pieces in black from the factory, and they don’t all take the same treatment as gloss paint.
- Satin black. On the Carrera GTS, Porsche paints the front spoiler lip “in satin-finish black”, per its exterior chapter. Satin isn’t machine-polished, because polishing would make it shine.
- Black on every new 911. Porsche now finishes the lower rear spoiler in black on the updated car.
- High-gloss black. The GTS carries two oval tailpipe trims in high-gloss black, and its centre-lock wheels are painted Anthracite Grey.
- Carbon. Exclusive Manufaktur’s Carbon Design Package and the Aerokit in Carbon add exposed carbon parts.
The Signature package includes trim in its list of coated surfaces. On the other two, name the parts you want covered when you ask.
Should a 911 get PPF before the coating?
If you want both, yes: film first, coating after. The coating can then go over the film and the remaining paint together, and the shop’s Signature package is set up for exactly that, listing PPF among its surfaces.
The front of a 911 is where stones land, which is why many owners film the nose and coat the rest. The packages and prices for the film are on Porsche 911 PPF, and coating over PPF explains how the two layers work together.
How do you book a 911 ceramic coating in Langley?
Send the year, variant and paint name, and a few daylight photos of the paint. Say whether the car has film on it and which black or carbon parts it carries.
The car is usually with the shop for one to three days, most of it spent on correction and curing. Water should stay off it for 24 hours once you’ve collected it. Phone 604 534 6433 or use the coating request form to get a price.
