What does a Macan ceramic coating include?
A graphene-ceramic coating in one of three packages, laid over paint that has been measured and corrected to suit it. The price is set per Macan, mostly by how much correction the paint needs.
| Package | Layers | Paint preparation | Surfaces coated |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | 1 | Set by the paint check | Paint |
| Performance | 2 | Two-stage correction | Paint, glass, wheel faces |
| Signature | 4 | Full correction | Paint, PPF, wheels, glass, trim |
Before any polishing, a gauge reading shows how much clear coat the Macan has to spare. Correction ranges from a one-day enhancement polish up to multi-stage restoration, which takes three days or longer and is priced after inspection; the paint correction page lays out the stages. Whether one, two or four layers suits your Macan is weighed up in how many layers of ceramic coating you need.
Which colours does Porsche paint the Macan?
A long list, and it has grown since the Macan Electric arrived. At launch, Porsche’s Macan press kit counted “14 standard colours and 59 special colours (Paint to Sample)”.
When the electric Macan GTS arrived, its press kit added Crayon, Carmine Red and Lugano Blue, bringing the count to “the now 15 standard colours” plus “almost 60 additional shades” through Paint to Sample. The gasoline Macan has its own list. Whatever the colour, give the shop its exact name: dark solids show swirls readily, while metallics and Paint to Sample colours are measured and inspected like any other before the polisher touches them.
How should the Macan’s textured and coloured trim be handled?
Apart from the gloss paint. Porsche dresses each Macan in its own mix of trim, and the finishes don’t all take machine polishing.
| Macan | Trim Porsche names | Finish |
|---|---|---|
| Macan Electric | Up to five sideblade and door-surround designs: textured Lava Black, Carbon or body colour | Textured, carbon or paint |
| Macan Turbo (Electric) | Turbonite on the sideblades, side window surrounds, airblades, rear lettering, wheel crests and rear bumper trim | Turbonite |
| Macan GTS (Electric) | High-gloss black sideblades with satin-gloss black lettering, satin-gloss black wheel arch trims, matt black rear lettering | Gloss, satin and matt |
| Macan T (gasoline) | Agate Grey Metallic on the roof spoiler, mirrors, side blades, rear lettering and the wing in the skid plate; tailpipes in High Gloss Black | Metallic and gloss black |
The Macan T details are from Porsche Canada. Satin, matt and textured parts are cleaned and coated without polishing, since a polisher would leave them shinier than Porsche made them. Signature is the package that lists trim among its surfaces; with Essential or Performance, list the trim you’d like included.
Should the wheels and glass on a Macan be coated as well?
Worth considering, since the wheels carry finishes of their own. At launch, every Macan Electric came on aerodynamically optimised 20-inch wheels, with ten designs offered from 20 to 22 inches; the later GTS has 21-inch Macan Design wheels in Anthracite Grey as standard. The gasoline Macan T wears 20-inch Macan S wheels painted Dark Titanium.
Signature includes the wheels and Performance their faces. On Essential, wheel and caliper coating is an extra; ceramic coating for wheels explains what that adds. Glass coating comes with Performance and Signature and is sold on its own too.
How do you book a Macan coating in Langley?
Send the year, gasoline or Electric, the trim, the colour name and a few daylight photos. Say whether there’s PPF on the front and which trim parts are textured, carbon or coloured.
Most Macans need one to three days in the bay. If you plan to film the nose too, have the film fitted first so the coating can go over film and paint together; the film packages are on Macan PPF. Request a price on the coating quote form, or phone 604 534 6433.
