What does a ceramic coating cost on an R1T?
The shop quotes each truck after inspecting the paint, and publishes no coating prices. On an R1T the length of the body, the condition of the paint and which extras you add, such as wheels and glass, settle the figure.
| Package | Build | Surfaces |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | One coat of graphene-ceramic | Painted panels |
| Performance | Two layers after a two-stage correction | Paint, wheel faces, glass |
| Signature | Four layers after full correction | Paint, PPF, wheels, glass, trim |
Plan on one to three days at the shop, with paint thickness read before any polishing starts. The ceramic coating page explains the system and the extras.
Which parts of an R1T are paint, and which aren’t?
Most of the exterior is painted body, but the bed is not. Rivian Canada describes the whole truck bed as a reinforced, compression-moulded structural composite that withstands water, heat, dings and scrapes, and the optional powered tonneau cover as water-resistant aluminum panels. A paint coating is aimed at the painted panels, and the inspection settles which surfaces on your truck those are.
On colour, the R1T shares the R1S palette: six paints on the Premium, from Glacier White and Esker Silver to Midnight, and eight on the two upper trims, where Red Canyon and Storm Blue join the list. Wheels run from the 20-inch Adventure All-Season on the lower trims to the 22-inch Sport Burnished Bronze and 20-inch Dune Satin Graphite All-Terrain on the Quad. A dark colour like Midnight benefits most from correction before coating, since swirls show readily on it.
What does Rivian’s wash routine mean for a coated R1T?
It stays the same, just quicker. The R1T owner’s guide lays out an eight-step hand wash, and three steps matter most on this truck.
- The air intake cover. It looks like a set of vents under the hood near the windshield. Clear leaves from it, and when the front trunk is open, don’t aim a pressure washer or a high-flow hose at it, since that can degrade the climate system.
- Section by section. Soap and rinse a part of the truck at a time so soap scum doesn’t dry on the paint, then dry with a chamois or soft cloth.
- Underneath. Flush the underbody, fenders, brakes and wheel wells to prevent corrosion, especially after sand, salt, mud or de-icer.
Rivian’s guide treats coatings as optional (“aren’t required”) while noting that they protect the finish and ease routine washes. That’s the honest case for coating an R1T: grime and road film rinse off with less rubbing. It won’t stop stone chips; film does that, as the R1T PPF page explains.
Can the R1T’s glass be coated too?
All of it except the windshield. Rivian warns in its wiper and wash sections that water-repellent washes, waxes or coatings on the windshield can affect rain detection, so the automatic wipers may not work properly. On the packages that include glass, the side windows, the heated back glass and the roof panels can be coated and the windshield left bare. The glass coating page covers what that layer does on side and rear glass.
How do you book an R1T coating in Langley?
Give the shop the model year, trim and paint colour, mention the powered tonneau if it’s fitted, and say whether PPF is on the truck or planned, since film goes on before Signature coats over it. After pickup, keep the R1T dry for 24 hours. Book a paint inspection through the R1T coating quote form, or send a text to 604 534 6433.
