What does GT-R light film cost, and what’s involved?
It’s priced for your car once the shop knows which lamps you want done. STEK film is laid on each lens, heated until it follows the curve and trimmed by hand; nothing touches the lamp itself, so the lenses can go back to stock.
| STEK option | Best suited to |
|---|---|
| 50% smoke | Daily-driven cars; a lighter tone that keeps more output |
| 30% smoke | A dark, blacked-out look, mostly on taillights |
| Clear | Guarding headlight lenses from pitting, with no change in look |
| Yellow | A coloured headlight look for show use |
On the shop’s published terms, STEK backs its light film for 7 years against yellowing, cracking and peeling. A pair of lamps is normally two to three hours; the GT-R’s rear has four separate round lenses, so the rear alone is more pieces of film than on most cars.
Which lamps does the R35 GT-R have?
LED all round, with the round taillights the car is known for. Nissan’s 2020 press kit says the rear “continues to be defined by its iconic round taillights” and describes four LED units in the headlights: an intensive LED high beam and three LED low beams for long-distance and wide illumination.
| Lamp | What Nissan lists |
|---|---|
| Headlights, 2020 | Multi-LED, four units, revised inner colour for that year |
| Headlights, 2024 | 4-bulb LED with AFS |
| Running lights | Integrated LED |
| Taillights | “GT-R” 4-ring LED |
| High-mount stop lamp | LED, mounted in the spoiler |
The 2024 rows come from Nissan’s 2024 GT-R specifications. Because the third brake light sits in the wing, smoking the four taillights leaves it untouched unless you ask for it too.
How dark should a GT-R’s round taillights go?
Start at 50%. The shop calls it the subtle shade that keeps output, which suits a car you drive through the wet months. 30% gives the full blackout look, with brake lights and signals that are harder to see in rain and road spray.
Hold a sample against one lens in daylight before choosing; four dark circles change the look of the rear more than a single lamp would. The trade-off is set out in what smoke film does to brake lights; the smoked taillights page covers the film itself.
Should the GT-R’s adaptive headlights get smoke or clear?
Clear, if the goal is protection. Smoke reduces the light every LED unit puts on the road, adaptive lighting included. Clear film keeps grit off the lenses without that cost, and tinted headlights in BC covers how the law treats darker film.
Will a GT-R with tinted lamps pass a BC inspection?
Expect a fail with smoke or yellow on any lamp. The lamp section of the 2025 Vehicle Inspection Manual, at item 1.0(a), rejects a lamp whose lens “reduces transmission of light” or “is covered in any manner”, and even clear film can raise an inspector’s question.
Bringing a GT-R into BC? Most cars registered in another province need a passed inspection before ICBC will register them, so take any light film off before that appointment. The out-of-province inspection guide lists the exceptions.
A smoked lamp can also bring a roadside ticket. The shop sets out the risk before quoting.
How do you book GT-R light film in Langley?
Send the year, which lamps you want done, the shade, and a photo of the rear if you can. The reply is a price for those lenses.
After fitting, stick to hand or touchless washes, avoid brush washes, and hold the pressure washer back from the film’s edges. Book through the GT-R light film form, or text 604 534 6433.
