What can be wrapped on an Audi R8?
Anything from the whole car to a single pair of sideblades, with the R8’s factory paint left untouched under 3M or Avery Dennison cast film. There are no published wrap prices, so every R8 is quoted from its body, version and the finish you pick.
| R8 wrap job | What changes | Time in the shop |
|---|---|---|
| Full colour change | Every exterior panel; door jambs available | 3 to 5 days |
| Sideblades | Both sideblades in a new colour or finish | Same day to 2 days |
| Roof, mirrors or spoiler | A contrast accent on a coupé or Spyder | Same day to 2 days |
| Trim blackout | Grille frame, badges and other bright pieces in black vinyl | Quoted per R8 |
Because it’s vinyl and not paint, an R8 wrap can be taken off later and the Audi finish underneath is left as it was, provided that paint is original and sound. Whether a wrap harms paint explains when it can and can’t.
Why are the sideblades the R8’s signature wrap panel?
Because Audi treated them as a design piece of their own. The 2019 R8 exterior notes offer them in five variants plus a custom paint finish, say the blades “can bear a logo of their choice,” and explain that on the coupé the shoulder line splits each sideblade into an upper and a lower half.
That gives an R8 owner three options in vinyl: a new colour for both blades, a different finish such as satin against gloss body paint, or a two-tone split along Audi’s own shoulder line. Since the factory blade has a lightly roughened matte surface, ask to see the film you’re considering against the original before deciding.
Which R8 trim can be blacked out or changed in vinyl?
Several pieces Audi already offered in black. The 2019 R8 release describes three exterior packages for the splitter, sill trims and diffuser, finished in gloss black, titanium-look matte or gloss carbon, and black-painted rings and badges as an option; on a Spyder the black option extended to the frame around the windshield and to the vents in the soft-top cover.
The same update widened the Singleframe grille and, in Audi’s words, the “chrome frame was omitted.” A second-generation R8 built before then still carries that bright surround, which makes it the obvious candidate for a chrome delete in black vinyl, gloss or satin.
What should you know before changing an R8’s colour?
What you’re covering, and how long the film is warranted here. Audi’s 2019 paint range ran to eleven colours, with Ascari blue held back for the Coupé V10 performance quattro, and Audi exclusive would mix any colour a buyer asked for. The last R8 built, on March 22, 2024, was Vegas Yellow, according to Audi’s farewell release.
Brookswood Tint’s published terms give the vinyl on an R8 a 5-year manufacturer warranty. For 3M 2080 specifically, 3M’s zone list puts Canada in its Zone 2, and 3M’s 2080 warranty card gives that zone seven years on an R8’s vertical panels but two on horizontal ones, which leaves the hood and roof on the shorter term. Vinyl changes colour but isn’t built to stop stones; PPF versus vinyl wrap sets out the difference.
How do you book an R8 wrap in Langley?
Send the year, coupé or Spyder, the current colour and exterior package, and what you’d like changed: the whole car, the sideblades or the trim. Bring up any chips or repaint history, since vinyl shows what’s under it.
A full colour change on an R8 needs three to five days, and partial jobs from the same day to two. Request an R8 wrap price through the quote form or by phone at 604 534 6433. Owners thinking about film for the nose as well can look at Audi R8 PPF.
