Audi R8 PPF in Langley, BC

At a glance

An Audi R8 in LLumar Platinum film costs from $850 for the nose-only Partial Front. Covering the whole front end starts at $1,550, adding the pillars and rockers at $1,900, and covering all of the R8's paint at $4,000, each a starting price under LLumar's 10-year limited warranty. An R8 asks for more thought along its flanks than most cars, because the sideblades behind the doors feed air to the V10 and the sills run straight back from the front tires.

What does PPF cost on an Audi R8?

From $850 to $4,000 across four LLumar Platinum packages, as starting prices. The R8’s size, how intricate its intakes and exterior-package parts are, and the condition of its paint decide the final number.

Package From Panels on an R8 Shop time
Partial Front $850 Bumper in full; hood and fender leading edges; headlights; mirrors Normally one day
Full Front $1,550 R8 hood and both front fenders complete, bumper, lights, mirrors One to two days
Track Package $1,900 Full Front, plus the R8’s A-pillars, leading roof edge and rockers One to two days
Full Vehicle $4,000 Every painted surface, plus the headlights Three to five days

Platinum is a self-healing film: light marks in its top layer fade with warmth. Patterns come from software templates, and the edges are folded around each panel wherever its shape leaves room. Where a bumper corner needs a relief cut, it’s pointed out to you first. LLumar publishes a 10-year limited warranty for Platinum Gloss, and the shop names four covered defects in its own terms: yellowing, cracking, bubbling, peeling.

Where does an Audi R8 pick up stone chips?

On the nose first, then down both flanks. Audi’s 2019 R8 design notes describe a wider front splitter, large air inlets divided by vertical winglets, and flat slits in the hood that recall the Audi Sport quattro. Every one of those edges points into the road ahead.

Along the sides, the car’s own airflow is part of the story. The R8 aerodynamics notes say two small diffusers at the front send air through the wheel wells to help cool the brakes, and that the V10 “draws its inlet air through openings in the vehicle rear and through two long connecting pieces that lead to the sideblades.” On a 4.43 m car with a 2.65 m wheelbase, the sills and the front of each sideblade sit only a short way behind the front tires, where grit thrown off the tread comes back at the body. A Full Front ends at the front fenders; the Track Package continues along the rockers, and rocker panel PPF covers that zone as its own job.

How should film treat the R8’s sideblades and exterior packages?

Match the film to the finish underneath. Audi says the coupé’s sideblade has a top layer that “is roughened slightly, which gives it a special matte effect,” and it fitted three exterior packages to the splitter, sill trims, sideblades and diffuser: high-gloss black as standard on the V10 quattro, a matte titanium look on the V10 performance quattro, and high-gloss carbon as an option for either.

Gloss film over a matte part adds shine it was never meant to have. Platinum Matte, on the same 10-year LLumar term, suits the matte-effect and titanium-look pieces, while the gloss black and carbon parts take Platinum Gloss. You can also leave the unpainted trim bare and protect only the paint. How each film changes what you see is explained on matte PPF.

What should the template allow for on an R8?

Moving parts, sensors and the model year. Audi gives the R8 Coupé V10 quattro a rear spoiler that rises electrically at 120 km/h, while the V10 performance quattro wears a fixed blade in carbon fibre-reinforced polymer, so film on the rear deck has to leave a working spoiler free to move.

At the front, the 2019 update made the Singleframe grille broader and flatter and dropped its chrome frame, which means an earlier car’s bumper may not match a later pattern. Audi also listed parking system plus with a reversing camera among the R8’s options in its equipment notes, so ask how the template treats any sensors and the camera on your car before it’s cut.

How do you book PPF for an R8 in Langley?

Send the year, coupé or Spyder, the version (V10 quattro, V10 performance quattro or a rear-wheel-drive car), the exterior package and the paint colour. Your R8’s paint is decontaminated before film is laid, and polished first if it has swirls or haze worth correcting, so nothing gets sealed in.

Don’t wash the R8 for its first seven days home. Once that week is up, the R8 is fine in a touchless bay or under a wash mitt, provided the pressure wand stays well clear of the film’s edges; brush tunnels are out. Your R8’s figure comes from the PPF quote form for the R8, or call 604 534 6433 and ask for an R8 film quote. A coating can go over the film as well; Audi R8 ceramic coating explains the packages.

Questions about audi R8 PPF

01Should the matte titanium-look trim on an R8 V10 performance get film?

It can, in a matte film so the sheen stays the same. You can also film only the painted panels and leave that trim as Audi finished it; decide before the template is cut.

02Does a Spyder take the same film pattern as a coupé?

Not everywhere. The Spyder's rear deck, top-compartment cover and windshield frame differ from the coupé's, so tell the shop it's a Spyder when you send the year.

03Can film go on an R8 that already has stone chips?

Yes, but film seals chips in rather than hiding them. Have them touched up or repaired first if you want them gone, then film over the result.

04How long is an R8 off the road for full-body film?

Full coverage keeps an R8 for three to five days. A Partial Front on an R8 usually takes a single day; the Full Front and Track Package each need one or two.
