Can you buy a wrap film called satin bronze?
Not from 3M or Avery Dennison in North America. Satin bronze is a look, and the wrap is built from whichever real film comes closest on your car.
What Avery Dennison offers
Avery’s North American Supreme Wrapping Film overview has exactly one bronze, Brushed Bronze (SW900-933-X), in its Extreme Texture group. The warm metallics around it on the chart carry other names:
| Avery film | Code | Finish |
|---|---|---|
| Brushed Bronze | SW900-933-X | Brushed-metal texture |
| Satin Metallic Safari Gold | SW900-260-M | Satin metallic |
| Gloss Metallic Brown | SW900-929-M | Gloss metallic |
What 3M offers
The current 3M 2080 brochure has no bronze. Its nearest warm metallics are Gloss Liquid Copper (2080-G344) and Matte Brown Metallic (2080-M209). The 2018 edition of 3M’s palette also showed Satin Canyon Copper (2080-S344) and Satin Caramel Luster (2080-SP59), but neither appears in the 2023 brochure, so treat them as “ask if still made”.
What does a satin finish add to a bronze colour?
A soft, low reflection that keeps the body lines visible without the mirror shine of gloss. Avery’s SW900 data sheet measures its satins between 20 and 30 gloss units at a 60 degree angle, with matte below 15 and gloss above 85.
With a metallic colour, that sheen matters more than usual. In the shop’s view, flake under a satin surface glows rather than sparkles, and that glow is the satin bronze look. A brushed texture such as Avery’s Brushed Bronze does something else: its grain runs in one direction, so up close it reads as machined metal.
Which film decides the warranty on a bronze wrap?
The one you choose, because each maker rates its films by type. Avery’s data sheet sets different terms for textures and metallics, and its Instructional Bulletin 1.30 places Canada in its Zone 1.
| Film type | Source | Vertical | Horizontal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Avery textured (Brushed Bronze) | SW900 data sheet, Zone 1 | 4 years | 1 year |
| Avery metallic (Safari Gold, Brown) | SW900 data sheet, Zone 1 | 5 years | 2 years |
| 3M 2080, every colour | 3M warranty card, Zone 2 | 7 years | 2 years |
3M’s zone map shades Canada as its Zone 2. The shop’s published vinyl term, a 5-year manufacturer warranty, sits above some of these rows and below others, so ask the shop which term applies to your film.
How does bronze look on a flat, grey Langley day?
The shop’s view is that warm metallics hold their colour in overcast light better than silvers and pale greys, which can fade toward the colour of the sky. Bronze stays recognisably brown-gold when the cloud is low.
What you lose under cloud is the flake. On a sunny day the metallic lifts across the hood and roof; under an even grey sky the car reads as one warm, solid tone. Hold the candidate swatches against the car outside, on a bright day and a dull one if you can.
Which cars suit a satin bronze wrap?
The shop’s suggestion is any car with dark wheels and black trim, because black frames a warm metallic cleanly. Sports coupes, SUVs and trucks with strong shoulder lines all carry it.
If your car still has chrome window surrounds, grille slats or badges, a chrome delete in gloss or satin black can go in the same booking; it’s the treatment behind the BMW M8 Competition the shop blacked out. For a darker take on the same finish, satin black is the plain-colour alternative.
How do you keep a satin bronze wrap looking even?
Wash it by hand with a mild soap, leave wax off unless the film’s maker lists it for satin, and treat stains quickly. Satin sits close enough to matte that Avery groups their care together.
Avery’s Instructional Bulletin 1.50 groups matte, satin and textured vinyl together and lists warm soapy water with a non-abrasive cloth, a 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water wipe, and Avery’s own Wrap Care cleaners for them. It also notes that matte and satin films can show fingerprints. 3M’s 2080 product bulletin warns never to scrub, because a scratch can stay visible in the film’s surface for good.
Don’t coat it. Avery voids its warranty for coatings containing solvents or petroleum distillates, and the same 3M bulletin rules coated 2080 out of its warranty altogether.
What does going back to paint involve?
Warming each panel, peeling the vinyl slowly and cleaning off any adhesive left behind. Avery’s data sheet keeps SW900 removable through its rated durability, using heat and chemicals, but excludes removal from paint more than 5 years old.
Taking it off before the film is past its rated life makes the job easier; the steps are on wrap removal.
Matching satin bronze at the shop
Share a photo of the bronze you have in mind, with your car’s year, make and model, using the wrap quote form, or send it by text to 604 534 6433. The shop can then pull the nearest swatches to compare on your car.
A whole-car colour change keeps it 3 to 5 days. Swatches can be viewed at the shop, Unit 312, 20560 Langley Bypass, from Monday to Saturday during its 9:00 to 17:00 hours. The vinyl wrap buyer’s guide covers the finishes side by side if you’re still deciding.
