How much is Equinox tint, and what does it cover?
The rear package is $260 in LLumar ATC and covers both rear door windows, any fixed glass behind them and the liftgate window. Ceramic film and the sunroof are priced separately.
| Equinox glass | What’s included | From |
|---|---|---|
| Rear package | Rear door windows, fixed glass behind them, liftgate window | $260 |
| IRX or AIR ceramic | The same rear glass in ceramic film | Quoted per package |
| Dual-pane sunroof, ACTIV and RS | The sliding panel and the fixed skylight | Quoted per vehicle |
| Front door windows | Driver and front passenger | $140, not road-legal in BC |
| Windshield, filmed from the inside | The whole windshield | $200, only the top 75 mm is road-legal |
Each piece of film is genuine LLumar, cut on the shop’s plotter to your Equinox’s year and body, so no blade is drawn across the glass or the trim. Film and labour carry a lifetime warranty. Doing the windows and the roof in one visit usually costs less than the separate figures added together, and every body style’s package is laid out on the window tint price list.
Why does the factory rear glass matter on an Equinox?
Because it’s already dark before any film goes on. Chevrolet Canada’s 2027 Equinox comparison lists deep-tinted rear glass as standard on the LT, ACTIV and RS, described as tint on the rear side windows and the rear liftgate glass, along with solar-absorbing rear side windows with privacy tinting.
Chevrolet publishes no light-transmission figure for that glass, and film multiplies with whatever is there: 20% film over 20% glass lets through roughly 4%. A shade chart on its own will therefore mislead you on this SUV. Two sensible starting points:
- Keep the factory look and cut heat: LLumar AIR 80 measures 77% visible light and 60% IR energy rejection (IRER) on LLumar’s spec sheet, so the windows hardly change shade.
- Go darker: ATC or IRX at 35% or 50% already makes an obvious difference over tinted glass. Hold a sample against your own window before settling on 5% or 15%.
More on what the factory number can be is in how dark factory privacy glass is.
Can the Equinox’s dual-pane sunroof be tinted?
Yes, on a separate quote. The 2027 comparison lists the dual-pane power sunroof as available on the ACTIV and RS and not offered on the LT. Chevrolet describes a tilt-sliding front panel with a fixed-glass skylight positioned immediately behind it, and a power sunshade for blocking light from above.
That leaves two pieces of roof glass to measure, one that moves and one that stays put. Roof glass is priced from the vehicle, as the sunroof and panoramic roof tint page explains. If the sunshade already keeps the cabin comfortable, the roof can be left for later.
What’s built into the Equinox windshield?
Sensors and heating elements, depending on trim. Chevrolet lists Rainsense automatic wipers and a heated wiper park as standard on the ACTIV and RS and available on the LT. The heated wiper park uses grids embedded in the windshield glass at the spots where the wiper blades rest, and the LT’s Convenience Package II adds a cabin humidity and windshield sensor.
None of this changes what BC allows on a windshield: film only in the top 75 mm. The heating grids sit down at the wipers’ rest positions, the opposite edge from that strip. If you’re weighing more than the strip, read how film and windshield cameras get along, and check your owner’s manual first.
Which Equinox windows does BC law allow film on?
Every window from the rear doors back, at any darkness. MVAR s. 7.05(8) permits film on side windows behind the driver, and on the rear window when the vehicle has outside mirrors on both sides; Chevrolet fits heated power mirrors on both front doors of every 2027 trim.
The two front door windows are the exception. They sit beside the driver, so any film there, near-clear AIR included, falls outside the rule and fails item 13d of the 2025 Vehicle Inspection Manual. The shop will fit it on request after spelling out the risk: a ticket that the Mission RCMP says typically costs $109, or an order to strip the film and have the SUV inspected. The front window rule in BC covers it in full.
What should you send to book Equinox tint?
The model year, the trim and whether there’s a sunroof. GM’s announcement introduced a new-generation Equinox for 2025, so a 2024 and a 2025 are different bodies. Add the film you’re leaning toward, ATC, IRX or AIR, and the reply lists the rear package, any ceramic difference and a roof figure.
A full Equinox usually takes two to four hours and goes home the same day. Leave the rear windows closed for the next three to five days, and a faint haze in that first week is only the film drying out. Book through the Equinox tint quote form, or text 604 534 6433 with the details.
