What does a Model Y chrome delete cost?
It’s quoted per car, because the price depends on which pieces on your Model Y are bright and how many you want covered. Window trim alone, badges alone and the two together are each priced from photos or a look at the car.
| Scope | What’s covered | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Window trim | The upper brightwork on both sides, back to the quarter glass | Quoted per car |
| Badges | Front and rear emblems, plus model and motor badges | Quoted per car |
| Both | Window trim and badges together | Quoted per car |
Either maker’s black cast film carries a five-year manufacturer warranty under the shop’s terms. For how the window-trim job works on any car, see window trim chrome delete; badge work has its own page on badge blackouts.
Which parts of a Model Y count as bright trim?
Tesla’s own name for the window surround gives it away: brightwork. On the 2020–2024 car, the upper brightwork is a long strip above the doors held by five screws at the front, three at the rear and a push rivet, and its rear end seats on a dowel on the rear quarter glass. A separate piece of quarter brightwork frames that quarter glass and clips to the upper strip.
The 2025+ manual calls the matching part an upper bright trim cap, fixed with eight screws per side. Tesla’s manuals don’t say what finish each build left the factory with, so judge by your car: whatever is shiny on yours is what the quote covers.
The badges are the other half. Tesla’s badges section for the 2025+ Model Y lists the front T badge, the rear Tesla script, the Model Y badge and the Dual Motor, Long Range and Performance badges as individual parts.
Is the Model Y’s window trim easy to take off for wrapping?
Not casually. Taking off the 2020–2024 upper brightwork means pulling the front and rear body seals, removing the B-pillar applique and releasing the header seal, and the eight grommets underneath are replaced, not reused. Ask the shop whether your trim will be wrapped in place or off the car, and why.
The trim also lives right next to the glass. Tesla’s door glass procedure warns not to close the door with the window raised in a service position because “upper bright trim will be damaged”, and the owner’s window calibration guide treats glass that “touches the bright molding” as a fault to fix. If any of your windows already catches the trim, run that routine before the vinyl goes on: up until it stalls, down until it stalls, then up again.
Gloss or satin, and can the chrome come back?
Either suits a Model Y. Gloss black is the shinier of the two and satin reads flatter, so compare both against the other black trim on your car and pick the closer match.
Cast vinyl comes off with heat and the adhesive is cleaned away, leaving the original trim, which suits leased cars and resale. How removal works is set out in reversing a chrome delete, and lessees should read chrome deletes on a leased car first.
How do you book a Model Y chrome delete in Langley?
Photograph the window strip on each side and every badge you’d like gone, then send them with the year, trim and gloss-or-satin choice. If you’re also changing the body colour, quote both together through Model Y wraps. The chrome delete quote form takes the photos, or text them to 604 534 6433.
