How much is window tint on a BMW M3?
Shop pricing treats the M3 as a sedan, so its rear doors and back window start at $240 in ATC. Ceramic film costs more and is priced for each package; the front glass has its own prices.
| Job | Glass | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Sedan rear package, ATC | Rear door glass, back window and any quarter glass | From $240 |
| Ceramic upgrade, IRX or AIR | Those rear windows | Priced per package |
| Moonroof | Only on cars built with the steel roof | Quoted per car |
| Driver and passenger doors | Both front side windows | $140, illegal on BC roads |
| Full windshield | Fitted on the inside face | $200, illegal below the top 75 mm |
BMW’s 2025 M3 release for Canada lists four doors and five seats for both the M3 and the M3 Competition with M xDrive, at the same length and width. That’s why the quote follows the sedan class rather than the coupe one, and why both versions start from the same price.
Does a BMW M3 have a roof to tint?
Usually not. BMW Canada’s 2020 launch release says the M3’s roof “is made from carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP)”, with two fins running along it to guide the airflow.
There’s an exception. The US equipment list for the 2021 M3 includes a “Moonroof (no-cost, replaces CFRP roof with steel roof)”. BMW Canada’s release mentions only the carbon roof, so look up before you book: if there’s glass overhead, it’s quoted separately, as sunroof tint explains. The M3 CS has no such choice; BMW leaves its carbon roof exposed.
Which LLumar film suits an M3’s rear glass?
IRX if heat is the priority, ATC if price is. The numbers below come from LLumar’s performance data sheet, measured on single clear glass:
| Film | Total solar energy rejected | IR energy rejection | Measured visible light |
|---|---|---|---|
| IRX 05 | 62% | 60% | 6% |
| IRX 50 | 50% | 60% | 54% |
| ATC 05 | 44% | 22% | 5% |
LLumar’s shade names aren’t measurements: IRX 05 actually passes 6% of visible light. Film over a darker pane ends up darker still, since the two multiply. The back window’s defroster lines keep working under film, as tint over defroster lines explains.
What’s on an M3’s windshield?
On cars with the option, a head-up display. The 2025 release says it projects a multi-coloured tachometer, shift lights and M View onto the windscreen. BMW’s 2020 release also says the BMW Drive Recorder uses the driver assistance systems’ cameras to record clips of up to 40 seconds.
In BC a windshield may carry film only in its uppermost 75 mm, and carmakers generally want their camera views kept clear. Read windshield tint with an ADAS camera before asking for a strip, and tell the shop which assistance options your M3 has.
What does BC allow on an M3?
Behind the driver, any darkness; on the front doors, none. MVAR s. 7.05(8) permits back-window film only on a car with outside mirrors on the left and right, and BMW gives every M3 its M-specific pair.
Track use doesn’t change the rule for the drive home. An inspector rejects front door film under item 13d in BC’s 2025 inspection manual, while officers can issue a ticket or order the film off. The shop applies it only at an owner’s request after explaining the risk, and tinting front windows in BC spells out the whole rule.
How do you book an M3 tint in Langley?
Send the model year, carbon roof or moonroof, and the film you have in mind. The work takes two to four hours, so you’ll usually drive home that afternoon, then leave the windows alone for three to five days.
Use the M3 tint quote form, or text your M3’s year and roof type to 604 534 6433. For the nose, see M3 PPF.
