Which Expedition glass is laminated, and does that change the tint?
It depends on the trim, but laminated side glass still takes film like any other pane. Ford Canada’s feature lists for the 2027 Active, Platinum and Tremor set the glass out trim by trim:
| 2027 Expedition | Active | Platinum | Tremor |
|---|---|---|---|
| Privacy glass, second row, third row and liftgate | Standard | Standard | Standard |
| Acoustic-laminate windshield | Standard | Standard | Standard |
| Laminated front side windows | Optional | Standard | Standard |
| Laminated rear side windows | Not listed | Optional | Standard |
| Panoramic Vista Roof | Optional | Optional | Standard |
Film is applied to the cabin face of the window, and a laminated pane’s interlayer is sealed between its two sheets of glass, so the two never meet. A Tremor’s laminated rear doors are tinted the same way as an Active’s tempered ones; tinting acoustic laminated side glass explains why.
What does the $260 rear package include on an Expedition?
All the glass behind the front doors, in LLumar ATC, from $260. That is the shop’s full-size SUV package, and ceramic film on the same windows is priced per package.
| Expedition job | Glass | From |
|---|---|---|
| Full-size SUV rear package | Second-row and third-row side windows, liftgate glass | $260 |
| IRX or AIR ceramic | The same windows | Quoted per package |
| Panoramic Vista Roof | Roof glass | Quoted per vehicle |
| Front door windows | Driver’s and front passenger’s | $160, not road-legal in BC |
| Full windshield, from the inside | 1 | $200, legal only in the top 75 mm |
Ford sells the Expedition in standard and MAX versions, so name yours; the plotter pattern is chosen by year, make and model before a single piece is cut. Film and workmanship carry a lifetime warranty, and the window tint price list shows how the classes compare.
Does the Split Gate change how the back glass is tinted?
Not in practice. Ford describes the Split Gate as having “powered upper and lower halves”, listed as a power upper liftgate over a power lower tailgate, and the privacy glass sits in the liftgate above. The film is cut to that pane and goes on from inside.
All three trim pages list a rear window defroster and washer. The film lies over the defroster lines without stopping them, and if it ever has to come off it is steamed loose so the grid survives; tint over rear defroster lines covers that in detail. BC also needs an outside mirror on each side before film may go on the rear window, and all three trim pages list heated mirrors on both doors.
Should the Panoramic Vista Roof get film?
That’s your call, and it’s quoted on its own. The Tremor comes with the Panoramic Vista Roof, while the Active and Platinum offer it as an option. Ask for the roof in the same quote as the side glass if a hot third row is the complaint, and see the sunroof tint page for how the glass is measured.
What can go on an Expedition’s front doors and windshield in BC?
Nothing on the front doors, and only a strip at the top of the windshield. MVAR s. 7.05(8) allows film on side windows behind the driver and on the top 75 mm of the windshield. The laminated front windows on a Platinum or Tremor are still the driver’s and passenger’s windows, so they’re covered by the same ban as any other front door glass.
The shop will fit the $160 front-door job if you ask, after laying out what it means: the Expedition is no longer road-legal, a ticket is possible, and police can order the film removed and the vehicle inspected. Front window tint in BC has the specifics.
How do you book Expedition tint in Langley?
Send the year, trim, standard or MAX, whether the roof is in the job, and the film you want. The trim answers most of the glass questions before the SUV arrives.
A full SUV usually takes two to four hours and goes home the same day. The side windows stay closed for three to five days while the film cures. Compare the smaller Ford Explorer tint page if you’re weighing the two, then request a price on the Expedition tint quote form or call 604 534 6433.
